Three GE call-outs as the technician wrote them up. Two of the machines were well over a decade old, and both are still working.

GE Profile Fridge

Riverside South · September 2026 · One visit

Symptom: Fridge side going warm while the freezer stayed cold, and a sheet of ice building across the back wall of the freezer.
Found: Defrost heater had failed, so frost was smothering the evaporator and blocking the airflow that feeds the fridge compartment. The compressor was working perfectly.
Fixed: Melted the ice out, replaced the defrost heater and the thermostat as a pair, and checked airflow into the fridge section once it had come back down to temperature.
On site: About two hours, most of it waiting on the thaw.

GE Electric Dryer

Vanier · July 2026 · One visit

Symptom: Machine humming when switched on but the drum not turning at all. Owner assumed the motor had finally died after fourteen years.
Found: Drive belt had snapped and was lying in the bottom of the cabinet. Motor and idler pulley both still sound, though the pulley was starting to score.
Fixed: Fitted a new belt and replaced the idler pulley while the cabinet was open, since going back in for it later would cost another visit. Vent cleared on the way out.
On site: Just under an hour. Both parts were on the van.

GE Top-Load Washer

Barrhaven · May 2026 · One visit

Symptom: Filling normally, then sitting there doing nothing with the lid light blinking and no spin.
Found: Lid lock switch worn out, so the board could never confirm the lid was shut and held the cycle. A common wear item on this generation of GE top-loaders.
Fixed: Replaced the lid lock assembly, checked the wiring back to the board for chafing, then ran a full cycle with a load in to confirm it spun out properly.
On site: Around 50 minutes.
