These terms apply when you book an appliance repair with Rideau River Appliance Repair or use this website. They are written to be read, not to be survived. If anything here is unclear, call (613) 484-3528 and ask before you book.
We repair domestic appliances in the home: fridges, stoves, ovens, dishwashers, washing machines and dryers. All work is carried out at your address. We do not take appliances away, and we do not sell appliances. Service is limited to the areas listed on this site, in and around Vanier, Barrhaven and Riverside South.
A booking is confirmed when we agree a date and an arrival window with you by phone or in reply to the form on this site. Time windows are estimates. Traffic, weather and the job before yours all move them, and we call you when they do. Booking a visit does not commit you to a repair.
Every visit starts with a diagnosis, charged at a flat rate that you are told before the technician arrives. Once the fault is found you get the price in writing, and no repair work starts until you approve it. If the job turns out to need more than the quote covered, we stop and re-quote rather than carrying on and adding it to the bill.
So the technician can work safely, we ask that on the day:
A technician may stop work and leave if the situation is unsafe, for example exposed wiring, a gas smell, standing water on a live circuit, or damage that needs a licensed electrician or plumber first. We will explain why and what needs to happen before we can come back.
Payment is due when the work is finished, unless we agreed something else in writing beforehand. Prices quoted include the parts and labour named in the quote. Applicable taxes are shown on the invoice. If a special-order part is needed, we tell you the cost before ordering it, and the terms for that are on our cancellation policy page.
We fit new parts, either from the manufacturer or an equivalent we are willing to stand behind. Replaced parts are disposed of unless you ask on the day to keep them. If you supply a part yourself we will fit it where it is safe to do so, but it is not covered by our repair warranty.
Some machines cost more to fix than to replace. When that is the case we say so, explain why, and charge only the diagnostic. If you ask us to carry out a repair we advised against, we will do it, but that work falls outside the warranty.
Appliances age. On older machines, seized screws, brittle plastic clips and perished hoses sometimes fail during a normal, careful strip-down, and that can happen even when the work is done properly. We flag the risk before we start whenever we can see it coming. Beyond that, our responsibility is limited to the repair itself and does not extend to consequential losses such as spoiled food, laundry costs or time off work. Nothing in this paragraph limits any liability that cannot be limited by law.
Every repair carries a 90-day warranty on the part we fitted and the labour that went with it. What is covered, what is not, and how to claim are set out in full on our warranty page.
Call us and we will move or cancel the booking. Notice periods, missed visits and part-way cancellations are covered on our cancellation policy page.
We collect only what a repair visit needs and we do not sell it. Details are on our privacy policy page.
The content here is published to describe our service and is kept accurate as far as we reasonably can. Prices, availability and coverage can change. Nothing on this site is a diagnosis of your appliance, and it is not a substitute for a technician looking at the machine.
Call (613) 484-3528 and tell us. Most problems are sorted on the phone or on a return visit. We would far rather hear about it than read about it, and a complaint handled properly is worth more to a local business than a review that was never given the chance to be good.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the laws of Canada that apply there. They do not remove any rights you have under the Ontario Consumer Protection Act. If we update them, the revised version and its date appear on this page, and the version published here is the one that applies to your booking.
Anything here you want explained before booking? Ask us on the phone.
